Dwelvers Journal 2014.07.30 - Long overdue polishing

I don't know if I like the idea of executing gladiators that belong to me, but captured enemies, sure why not. I do think everyone should be able to fall in battle though, and then it's up to you to have a free bed and an Imp to drag your sorry hide back there to recover. I could see a fight being entertaining or not, and having that either boost or stifle morale.

I don't think the fighters should die in the arena but they should collapse. There should be an imp stationed there that cleans up the arena and takes care of the monsters to keep them in top conditions, since the orcs will get upset if the fight is too easy. Big Grin

Good ideas. I agree, on further thought, defeated creatures should be dragged off by an imp to either a bed (if it's one of ours) or to the nearest prison (if it's a captured enemy). A prisoner that wins enough Arena bouts could also be offered to join and get a bit more freedom as a reward, and it would randomly either accept or reject based on creature type, length of imprisonment and number of bouts in the arena. So a goodie-goodie knight would be difficult to convince to join whereas a greedy roughe would be relatively easy to convince.

totally agree there serious, maybe have the arena require a prison be adjacent to it in order to function and also add prison beds. without the beds then the prisoners will die like normal (since they have no place to heal their wounds) but even prisons that are not beside an arena could have a bed.

This could also lead to more organized assaults from the humans above to rescue the prisoners or allow for bargaining with the upper world (trade prisoners for rare resources). but also prisoners would require to be fed as well

Yup. Those are all good ideas.
