G'day all. tried to register here on this forum a few times and the registration page was a nightmare.. just tried it again for like the 20th time.. and it worked.. woot.

Anyway, i'm mick.. 47 from oz. what seems like ages ago i went looking for an early access game to try out.. saw wtfo, didn't like what i was seeing, then saw this game, liked the animation style, and bought into it (version 5). Since then i've been somewhat active on the steam forums helping where i can, and hopefully providing useful feedback.

I spend most of my time playing games, with a penchant for strategy/simulation/rpg type games. I played dk 1 & II, and managed to get my friends into playing dk via lanparties.. but dk II was hopelessly unreliable in multiplayer. The game would start off well, we'd build our rooms and get out our champions.. soon as any of us met each other for the first time.. the game would crash and it had no autosave/resume feature.. so we'd try again and again, and it was such a shame that it never worked. While this isn't dk II, its similar in many ways and thats something that appeals to me and so i find it entertaining to play. Playing games is all about entertainment to me. If i'm not entertained, i'll move onto something else that will entertain me.

When i'm not gaming, i'm an online radio announcer/virtual dj.

Anyway,, thats enough about me.. i look forward to providing whatever assistance/feedback i can provide

Mick.

Hey mate! Seen ya on the Steam forums from time to time, and glad ya could join us here. I was also a fan of the DK series and hoping one day when it goes to abandon-ware someone cracks open the exe and mods the source to modern standards. I would bet the encapsulation of those days wouldn't be that hard to break nowadays, but I'm sure the copyright is still active. Damn you EA!!! Just let it go.

Outta curiosity about yer day job, what's the station you announce for?

I see, I was thinking some kind of local station that had an online presence. May check it out again when ya on the air. Was it something you started with some friends or just something you came into? I spend a bunch of time online, but I've not come across an online radio station before.

Oh, and not being judgmental or anything, but you should really remove the other link since there are underage persons who view this site. If you don't Sebt's gonna throw it into the Pit of the Damned for sure. Tongue

Joined that virtual world about 6yrs ago, and one of the ughh jobs you could to to pay for the monthly subscription was to become a virtual dj.. after about 5yrs of doing that, i was approached to join an internet radio station based on my previous dj experience, and have been doing it for about a year now.

Internet radio has been popular for the last 10yrs or so, and is becoming more and more popular, with microsoft recently purchasing the rights to Shoutcast, which is the major supplier of online audio servers and services. At some point down the track i suspect that microsoft will include music on demand services in thier products as competition vs apple's itunes. In recent years we've seen the rise of video streaming.. of people watching other people stream live video. Audio is no different. There are established internet radio stations, and anybody really can stream thier own music to a willing audience, and in some regards, this is exactly what i do in a virtual world. A club hires me to provide music for thier club. Requestable live music, using the music i have in my own home, streamed via a audio service provider (i rent a stream), and it gets played into the club. An internet radio station is much the same, except i'm streaming to the station, which then streams it out to the world and whatever carriers it uses.

Apart from internet radio stations, you can practically tune into any digital radio station in the world via a web browser and your default media player. Each station will have a preferred reciever, such as media player, realplayer or whats that other one.. i always forget the name of it.. nvm.. you get the jist.

I've been on holidays these last few months, but am due to start again soon. I'll let you know days/times once i start again.

re: link.. err yeah.. i ughh.. thought about it later after i posted it.. maybe should have read the posting rules.. forgot, but sebt managed to remove it for me.. thx.

Glad to have you on our forums and I wonder what problems you've occurred while trying to register to this forum?

after filling everything in and finding that something was missing such as not realising the password needed a capital letter, it would balk, and make you fill it all in again, but then all the fields would be hidden (in that you couldn't see what you were typing, unless you used the mouse to highlight what you'd typed). There were many times when i filled in everything correctly but it kept giving me errors. I tried like a dozen times.. and kept giving me errors.. way back when i first bought the game.. didn't return till i ask rasmus if i could be included in beta testing.. so i tried again and was met with the same errors.. and so i just left it again and thought gahh.. i'll try again another day, and recently tried again.. low and behold it worked.. maybe the email i sent to the webmaster a month ago in frustration had been read and the matter looked into.. i dunno..

anyway i'm here now Smile

Heh, that's great you managed to solve that puzzle, will take a closer look onto it, the problem may affect others too. Smile

Cheers!
