RE: 29.12 - Dwelvers website maintenance
There were a problem with the way I've coded the website which means that there could arise certain security issues. Nothing bad has happened, and the problems could have been solved quickly. But as I have very little experience in website security programming I wanted to make sure that nothing bad ever will happen either.

So I've trashed the old website and installed WordPress, which I actually have begin to fall in love with Tongue
Right now the website is restored more than 75%, so it will probably be finished until tomorrow Smile

Maybe this was a good thing, WordPress does offer me a lot of possibilities that can help me expand the website and upload media to it very quickly Smile

Wordpress is a good platform. I've worked with it a bit when I was studying web development. From what I understand it's mainly optimized for blogs though. I've also worked with Drupal, another free content management system that's more geared for websites.

So this is more preventative maintenance then that something awful has happened. That's a relief.

Maintenance finished, say hello to the new website Smile
It still needs some designing, but it will do for now..

Added a video, concept art, music and a unique screen-shot section to the media page. Check it out Smile

RE: 29.12 - Dwelvers website maintenance
Yeah, at first I had some problem getting away from the blog- and post-availability that were a standard on every page in wordpress. But there were a lot of options to disable it, so that went pretty smooth. Then I had to spend a couple of hours figuring out how to mix ordinary html sites with the blog sites (because in wordpress they are either one or the other), but when that was done it was mostly downhill Smile WordPress seemed to have plugins for every possible problem, so that made me glad.

So what's left.. I have to re-register the members from my old site so that they will get the updates when I post them, but that is not a immediate urgent so I will probably not do that until after new year.

Anyway, it feels sooo goood getting it up and running again Smile I was really worried earlier today..

Btw, as I said in my last post, the website still needs to be designed a little better, so if anyone that has a good knowledge in wordpress would like to help I would gladly accept it Smile

RE: 29.12 - Dwelvers website maintenance
I wouldn't say I have good knowledge in wordpress specifically, but I do have a working knowledge in html, css and php, which is, I believe, the main scripting language of wordpress. As far as CMS's go, I'm more familiar with Drupal, as I think I said in an earlier post, but I'd be happy to help. I love working on web designs and did well at it in college.

RE: 29.12 - Dwelvers website maintenance
Hmm, yea, what do you think about new website version? I said it would take 2-3 days, for Rasmus it took 2/3 of day, heh.. Big Grin

I read that Drupal is far more elastic if it comes to code writing, as safe too, that has many extentions, but we've need to make new website asap, so the choice was been on WordPress.

RE: [Finished] 29.12-30.12 - Dwelvers website maintenance
Drupal also comes with many themes as well, which can initially be used as is, with just the colours and banners being modified to fit your design desires, and can then be modified with a new version where the theme has been revamped to meet your exact needs. Which would mostly involved modifying the CSS that comes with the chosen theme.

Yeah, it was a 18 hour straight website programming. Not saying that it is perfect, but WordPress made it a lot easier to handle than the previous one.
But then again, it is pretty easy to see that it is designed in WordPress. So something have to be done about its design in the upcoming weeks.

Yea, I think we can remake actual theme for more "ours", than upload it and use, so even if someone would view website websource wouldn't see that it was all made in WordPress (at first glance).
