Dwelvers Journal 2014.04.19 - Left to do before releasing Dwelvers Alpha v0.7

Left to do before releasing Dwelvers Alpha v0.7

Expected release date is in 30 May 2014.

Tasks may be modified, added or removed, but I will report any changes done to the list in this topic.

Left to do

Solved since this topic started
  • Add a option to invert the mouse camera rotation.
  • Move the forum to dwelvers.com.
  • Add so that the player can choose if he wants to play in tutorial or in sandbox mode straight from the starting menu (it is possible that I will add some missions as well before the release).
  • Redo the water physics and visual appearance.
  • Add the Bat creature and all its animations.
  • Some very minor language editing fixes.
  • Wood and rope are now extractable from the vines that grows out of the roots.
  • Add a material/item that we can use for rope making. (Solved by having the rope item extractable from vines)
  • Add a Ropemaker into the blacksmith room. (Solved by having the rope item extractable from vines)
  • Add a Butchertable into the cookery room. (Bones will fall as loot from killed enemies)
  • Finish up the Impanzee animations so that he can be owned by the player.
  • Finish up the Cyclotaur animations so that he can be owned by the player.
  • Add a Sewing machine into the blacksmith room.
  • Add a Forge and Anvil into the blacksmith room.
  • Add bone item model and graphics.
  • Add rope item model and graphics.
  • Add leather item model and graphics.
  • Add the Rogue creature and all its animations.
  • Improve Dark Mother appearance.
  • Add fog of war spell.
  • Add creature voices.

When this list is finished we will release the game on the Dwelvers website for those of you that have pre-ordered it. When all the bugs have been solved and the game is balanced enough we will start preparing for the steam release.

When the game is released on steam we will also have a demo available to play for those of you that would like to try it out before making a purchase decision.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like a lot, but I'm sure it's not that bad if you think the middle of next month is a good target date. I can't wait!

Yeah, we can't afford any bugs to sneak through any of existing corridor, or hide behind any waterfall before releasing 0.7 version. Wink
Forum will be set on new address, but don't worry you will be informed 1 week earlier about the forum move.

Does that mean that backers will get a chance to help in bug checking before 0.7 comes out, or is that primarily to be done before the Steam release?

I think that it is very important to make a good impression at the steam release, because that is when we get the most people to try it out. So that is the main reason I want to release it on the website before we release it on steam.

Then after the steam release the "pre-orderer" option will disappear and be replaced with "buy it now", for future versions after the 0.7 release I will probably make it so that the pre-orderers will get the first chance to bug test the game before it is released to the buyers. So I may just create a private forum for all pre-orderers as well.

In my indiegogo campaign I mentioned that the backers will get the possibility to bug test the game first, but as I didn't get that many backers I am letting the pre-orderers have this opportunity as well, and that the backers will get some extra steam keys as a apology from me.

Haha, a suspect lot of people have been lurking at the forum without posting the last months, I really need to get that new version out there so that we all get something more to talk about Smile

My cats always gaze at the screen, pretending it's interesting and wondering why I would be interested in staring at my screen all day Tongue.

So little off topic... I ehm.. pre-ordered, and kinda only got a new account and password. So I have 2 accounts now.
This might be my fault, since my paypal is registered on a different e-mailadress.

Yeah, they always seem to prefer hanging their sitting or sleeping place marked out somehow, like on a keyboard, mousepad or anything that creates contrast from the rest of the table.

Welcome to the forum Orifiael Smile

My cat was especially interested in the imps running back and forth on the screen Tongue
No problem, but I don't think it would have made any big difference because the website only supports one pre-order per email-address atm, I will look into it and see if I can add some kind of a counter for the pre-orders per account there as well. But either way your pre-orders are safe Smile
